Polkadot is at ETHDenver from February 11th to February 20th, 2022, bringing workshops, presentations, and a prize pool of $15,000 as part of the world's largest Ethereum hackathon.

Polkadot BUIDLers

As part of the ETHDenver BUIDLathon (hackathon), the Polkadot prize pool boasts $15,000 for its bounties.

Since 2018, ETHDenver has invited blockchain and crypto developers, designers, enthusiasts, cypher-punks, and the entire ecosystem that is interested in decentralized technologies to Denver, Colorado. The curious minds that gather here at the BUIDLathon “hackathon” pursue innovation, and do so with the intention of building revolutionary projects for the next phase of the Internet, Web3.

The Polkadot network is bustling, and with new parachains being added to the ecosystem on a regular basis, the community is invited to pitch and develop new parachains for the chance to win their share of the $15,000 prize pool. This total is split 50/50 between the virtual and in-person portions of the hackathon.

Urban Osvald, Developer Relations Partnerships Lead, W3F, said: “We’re thrilled to be back at ETHDenver. Not only is it a refreshing change of pace to participate in an in-person event, but also to see how the entire Polkadot ecosystem has grown. We have over twenty hours of Polkadot content, from in-depth Substrate workshops led by Parity core engineers to dozens of ecosystem projects showcasing their tech in presentations, workshops, and panel discussions. I’m confident that this year ETHDenver will be a splashing success!”

Polkadot Bounty Hunters

Bounty 1: Pitch the Next Polkadot Parachain

Prize: $1500 per team (x5)

At this in-person event, each team is tasked with creating a pitch deck (15 slides maximum). It’s your chance to let your imagination run wild and envision what a future Polkadot parachain can do.

We’ll be looking for high-level presentations that explain what the parachain does and what problems it solves. It must also feature solid technical overviews as well as a roadmap that explores the future of the project.

Bounty 2: Build a Polkadot Parachain Using Substrate

Prize: 1st Place - $5000 / 2nd Place - $2500

This competition is for the virtual portion of the ETHDenver hackathon. Entrants are tasked with building a Layer-1 blockchain using Substrate, so dream big!

With Substrate, it’s possible to build incredible innovations on Polkadot. Be sure to consider its usefulness, accessibility, as well as all the other important details (full list in the link below), and who knows, it could one day become a fully-fledged Polkadot parachain!

Workshops and presentations

We’ll be there. We have mentors and judges there to help with the hackathon, meet and greet opportunities, as well as some amazing talks from the Polkadot ecosystem teams.

From February 15th to February 19th, we’ll be exploring everything Polkadot. There’ll be workshops from the Web Foundation (W3F) and Parity Technologies, talks from Polkadot parachain teams, an opportunity to party with the Polkadot ecosystem in the evening, and much more.

There’s something for everyone at ETHDenver, and we can’t wait to see you there!

About Parity

Parity Technologies is a core blockchain infrastructure company. It is creating an open-source creative commons that will enable people to create better institutions through technology. This started with work building Ethereum. Today, Parity is focused on Substrate, an industry-standard blockchain framework. It has used it to build Polkadot, a decentralized web blockchain meta-protocol, securing and connecting crypto-economies to the world.

With an overwhelming majority of voters in favor, the Polkadot community has chosen to allocate 3 million DOT to enhance the ecosystem’s decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape. Made through three separate proposals via Polkadot’s decentralized governance (OpenGov), this decision provides an accessible, deep layer of native liquidity to help the ecosystem flourish. It also demonstrates the power of community-driven initiatives to shape the future of decentralized finance.Hydration (formerly known as HydraDX) focuses on improving DeFi liquidity, while StellaSwap aims to optimize the efficiency of automated market makers (AMMs).
