Web3 Foundation strikes a deal with Zondax for Ledger apps

Zondax, a front-line blockchain services provider, is announcing an exclusive collaboration with the Web3 Foundation to develop Ledger apps for Polkadot parachain auction winners.

Zondax, a front-line blockchain services provider, is announcing an exclusive collaboration with the Web3 Foundation to develop Ledger apps for Polkadot parachain auction winners. Zondax's work aligns with Web3 Foundation's mission to nurture innovative applications for decentralized web software protocols. As Polkadot continues to onboard more auction winners, more Ledger apps developed by Zondax's in-house technologists and engineers are nearing production.

Zondax has been working closely with Web3 Foundation and Ledger since the first five auction-winning parachains – Acala, Moonbeam, Astar, Parallel, and Clover - were announced. It offers three Ledger app software development packages for winners: Basic, Standard and Custom. Web3 Foundation will reward all Polkadot auction winners with the Basic packages for free, while paid-for Standard and Custom packages are available on request.

Zondax is developing the apps that will deliver the final piece of functionality to achieve the vision of Polkadot. Built using Polkadot’s software development kit Substrate, parachains are individual blockchains that can interact with each other through the Polkadot Relay Chain. Polkadot founder Dr. Gavin Wood has explained: "The heterogeneous nature of this (parachain) architecture enables many highly divergent types of consensus systems interoperating in a trustless, fully decentralized 'federation,' allowing open and closed networks to have trust-free access to each other."

Juan Leni, founder of Zondax, said: "Zondax has been building innovative software solutions and offering professional services to blockchain pioneers. We contribute to the Web 3.0 backbone, a decentralized and fair internet where users control their own data, identity and destiny. The Web3 Foundation has been building an entire ecosystem to make the passion of delivering Web 3.0 a reality. Thus, I am very excited to see Zondax and Web3 joining hands and creating a Web 3.0 future together as our values align well. I believe this exclusive collaboration will mark yet another milestone in interconnected blockchain technology, leading us to the dawn of a future parachain ecosystem. As envisioned in the Polkadot paper, together, we are searching for a system capable of achieving global-commerce levels of scalability and privacy.”

Lucas Vogelsang, CEO of parachain project Centrifuge, said: “Zondax is a leader in developing Ledger apps, and we’re excited to benefit from their extensive experience. Wallet security is extremely important to us, and the Centrifuge Ledger app lets users securely receive, hold, and send Centrifuge (CFG). We’re also thrilled that Centrifuge secured a parachain slot on Polkadot. For the last 12 months, we’ve been laser-focused on a roadmap to bring real-world assets to the Polkadot ecosystem. With this next stage of our growth journey, Centrifuge can expand the entire DeFi industry by bringing millions of assets to Polkadot - all with lightning-fast transaction speeds.”

Micha Benoliel, CEO and founder of Nodle, another successful parachain auction winner, said:“Zondax has been a key partner for Nodle and provided us with a secure and reliable Ledger application for storing Nodle Cash tokens in the safest manner. Hardware wallet support is a key feature on the Nodle roadmap as we want to ensure our token holders have the best options available to secure their holdings.”

The exclusive collaboration between Zondax and Web3 Foundation will remain effective until June 30, 2023.
